My Past Work Experiences and Their Impact on My Future Career Search

Work Experiences
While studying at the University of South Carolina I have been blessed with a multitude of work opportunities. At FanCompass I was able to work for 4 months as a Sales & Marketing intern. During my internship, I was tasked with creating and posting social media content for both X and LinkedIn, as well as creating monthly social media analytic reports. My largest task at FanCompass was writing quarterly reports for two clients, those being the Omaha Storm Chasers and the Lancaster Barnstormers.

My next experience was with Gamecock Sports Properties as a gameday intern for the University of South Carolina Men's and Women's basketball programs. As a gameday intern I mainly worked in support of communication and attendance outreach at games. my main Duties included pregame programs & fan experiences. My personal favorite and largest task I had with Gamecock Sports Properties was helping with the annual Chic-Fil-A Cow Drop.

My most recent work experience has been working as a Sponsorship Scout for SponsorUnited. My main responsibility has been scouting sponsorship and promotional data at live events. The scouting process includes searching throughout entire venues and taking photograph’s and/or videos of sponsorship and promotional data, then manually entering and uploading data into the SponsorUnited database. I was also given the option to assist with time sensitive scouting assignments, which I happily accepted. My largest task as a Sponsorship Scout saw me scouting the live broadcasts for the VMA's Pre-Show and Main Show.
My Takeaways and Career Search
Each of my three internships were quite different from each other, and with that, different challenges arose and those led to different takeaways.

While at FanCompass I was in a situation where we had a low number of everyday employees, and as an intern I was given multiple sizable tasks. With such a small everyday team, I had a lot on my plate, and one of the main factors to my overall success was my communication with my coworkers. There were times that I ran into some issues while working on a task, and every time I reached out to a coworker they always pointed me in the right direction and offered me valuable advice. Coming into this internship I was definitely a bit nervous to reach out to new coworkers, however throughout my time at FanCompass I learned the importance of being willing to reach out to others on the team.

Working with Gamecock Sports Properties presented me with a different slate of challenges. Working in a gameday environment is quite fast paced and the reality is that there were times where I was trusted to handle tasks on my own. Over the 6 months I worked with Gamecock Sports Properties, my professional self-confidence skyrocketed and my main takeaway was to believe in myself and to be comfortable handling tasks on my own.

At SponsorUnited, I was in the complete opposite situation that I was in at FanCompass. The company employs over 70 strong, and brought in over 100 new interns for their Sponsorship Scouting internship program. Working as an intern alongside so many other employees meant that opportunities were few and far between and I wanted to make a name for myself within the organization. This led me to accepting an offer to help out with time sensitive scouting tasks. Being willing to work these tasks really opened my eyes when it came to trying new things in the workplace and is something I attribute to my success while working at SponsorUnited.

Each takeaway continues to have relevance constantly in the workplace, however my main takeaway from working at SponsorUnited has been extremely relevant when it comes to my job search. I have had great experiences working each separate internship position and I am constantly reminding myself to keep my mind completely open when it comes to my potential full-time role.

I believe each of these positions have gifted me with important knowledge and experience and I am looking forward to finding a full-time position.
