Passion Equates to Performance

My Passion for the Industry
I spoke a bit about my first introduction to the entertainment and event industry in my "About" section, but I wanted to expand on how my love and interest in this industry has grown exponentially since that moment 17 years ago. If you didn't get a chance to read my "About" section, my parents gifted me my first drum set for Christmas when I was five years old. At the time, I was just a child and thought that making a bunch of loud noises from an instrument was fun; however, over time I began to connect with my drum set and developed a passion for the music itself.

My growing passion for drumming and music as a whole resulted in me having a similar music taste to my Dad, whom enjoyed attending concerts. Once I got a bit older, my Dad began bringing me to some of the concerts he went to and this is where my interest in working in the SPTE industry truly began. From that moment on, I was infatuated with all the moving parts that went into putting on any live event, and over time, I began wanting to pursue a career within the event industry.

This eventually resulted in my decision to study Sport and Entertainment Management at the University of South Carolina and my passion for this industry has only grown since. I have had the chance to learn about every aspect of this industry for the past four years and have been lucky enough to work multiple jobs in the professional world as well. One of the most important things that I have learned over the past four years is that there is so much that goes into putting on a single live event, and that every single employee plays a major role into an event going smoothly.

My love for this industry continues to grow to this day and I don't ever see that changing. I find the SPTE world truly magnificent and I am eager to see where my future in this industry takes me.
Passion is a Cycle
While learning about and working numerous positions in the SPTE industry, I have come to learn how powerful it is to be passionate about what you do. I believe that having a passion for the industry you work in can truly elevate who you are as a candidate and employee.
While gaining all of my experience, I have come to believe that passion is a cycle. When you fall in love with something, you become passionate about it. When you're passionate about something, you want to learn more about it and be surrounded by it. The more you're around your passion, you will become more passionate towards it. which in-turn again leads to wanting to learn more and be surrounded by your passion. As an example, my growing passion for music from a young age led to my introduction to live events. This in-turn eventually led to my decision to want to study SPTE at South Carolina and to eventually work in the HRSM industry. While I gained experience, I came to find out that the more I worked in HRSM, the more I became passionate about it and so on.

This concept has changed the way I view my work, the SPTE industry, and professionalism in general. I have a steady belief that my passion for this industry will continue to grow on and build onto itself as I gain more experience. More than anything, I am just happy to be able to work in the industry I am so passionate about, and I suggest that everyone makes an effort to work in an industry that they’re passionate about.
